Thanks for hopping on my site. I've put off a web page for quite
some time. I have found each new piece of technology which is
supposed to make my life easier, only tends to complicate
things a little bit more. But you know, global
economy and all.
It seems in the last 5 or so years, the surfboard has morphed or
deformed into a mass produced commodity that is no different
than a pack of cigarettes. Basically, they're all the same board,
just with different logos. It is an unfortunate circumstance.
However, in a round about way, it is reaffirming the value of
the backyard shapers position in the local, as well as global
surfing community. A surfboard company in Southern California
or Thailand for that matter, could really care less about what
types of waves, we as surfers, ride at our local breaks.
Now more than ever, " support your local shaper,"
brings with it a refreshing breeze of
Individuality & Soul.
I make boards for the Blue Collar Surfer. People who are more
concerned about their buddies wave count than their own.
Surfers who understand that sometimes a
waist high wave can say it all.
I grew up, and live, in a cool little town hanging on to California's
northern coast. Its 100 or so miles from the
CA / Oregon border. It has a great waterfront and old
town section frequented by tourists, artists &
some really colorful characters who could
of easily stepped out of a Steinbeck
novel.
The surf can be small and buttery
or giant and jagged.
Humboldt is what you
make of it.
